Shane T. Gayle

About me

Shane Gayle, born in 2006 in Oceanside, California, grew up in a close-knit family where sports and outdoor activities played a big role in his upbringing. Early experiences, such as learning to surf alongside his father, shaped his connection to the ocean and his appreciation for nature.

Currently attending Oceanside High School, Shane is a well-rounded student active in academics, athletics, and extracurricular pursuits. He has participated in water polo, track, and various school clubs, including the Academic League, Robotics, Surfrider Club, and Photography. With a keen interest in Environmental Science, Shane aims to use photography to highlight the impact of environmental changes. His talent has been recognized through multiple awards, including 2nd place for the 2023 Del Mar Fair photo competition and a honorable mention at the 49th congressional district art competition.

Beyond academics and career aspirations, Shane enjoys a variety of hobbies such as surfing, art, Dungeons & Dragons, reading, and creating digital media. His guiding principle, "The power to move you", a quote from his father's surf brand, represents finding purpose and inspiration to stay motivated and work towards his dreams.

A pivotal moment in Shane’s life occurred in his sophomore year for high school as he gained the opportunity to travel to Iceland with his teachers and peers.

Shane’s journey is a testament to his resilience, passion, and commitment to making a difference in the world through personal connections and the environment.
